Cao Bei-an: Chinese watercolor guru of world importance
Perhaps, this is the most educated and titled artist and teacher of fine art from all who were born in China. He could be called a watercolorist, but he also draws pastels, and can draw with all the colors known today in the art world. As a seventeen-year-old teenager, Cao Bei-an graduated from the Shanghai Academy of Arts and was immediately appointed as a teacher of fine arts at the University of the Arts of Arts in East China. Later he lectured at the Shanghai Art College. And then he decided that he was not educated enough, went to Brussels and in 1998 graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. Since then, Cao Bei-an can be partly considered European. The diploma of the Belgian academy did not convince him that with education all issues had already been resolved, although any other artist would have no doubts about it. And he graduated from the Graduate School of Oil Painting at the Higher Academy of Plastic and Visual Arts in Mons.
Since then, Cao Bei-an has been collecting titles and merits. He is a member of the European Association of Watercolors and the Royal Association of Artists of Belgium. Nowadays he teaches in the Namur watercolor school and is the ideological inspirer and sponsor of the "Chinese Watercolor" magazine. And the awards and successes of the paintings of this Chinese artist can not be listed in the framework of one article. It is worth noting that for twenty years in different parts of the globe his exhibitions have been held, and the first awards that his pictures took at watercolor competitions are difficult to count. Suffice it to mention that Cao Bei-an himself judges such contests, for ten years already.
